Hey everyone,

I have finally embraced the Photos app as a solution for storing and backing up all of my Photos. The application now syncs with iCloud, and I have a backup on an external hard drive. It also syncs flawlessly with my Apple devices.

Here's the issue I've come across: I also use a Google Pixel, and I would like to import those photos to the Photo app for longtime storage and backup. Ideally, I'd like the photos to be added by the date they were taken, so all photos from all devices are in chronological order. Is there a way of doing this?

I noticed that downloading photos from the iPhone Dropbox app will place the photo in the camera roll by date taken, which then transfers to the Photos app. but obviously, I'm not going to spend time downloading each photo one-by-one.

Thank you, Dave.

I do know how to get the photos off the device itself . The problem is, when I import them into Photos, they all show up at the end of the camera roll. I would like them to go into the camera roll based on the date they were taken.

Are you sure the Pixel images HAVE a date taken stored in them? It may be that they don't, so that Photos would use the date of the file instead. When you have the images on your Mac check the date taken. Or look in the Pixel's settings; sometimes by default phones strip metadata when exporting.

So I just tried importing a photo taken last month. On Photos, it appears to be placing the photo in the correct chronological spot. However, when it syncs to my iPhone, the photo is showing as the last photo taken in the camera roll :(

There is definitely metadata on the file.

Is that when you transfer direct from the Pixel to your iPhone?

Transfer them to your Mac/Photos, then sync your iPhone to your Mac. They should then appear in the Photos App on your iPhone in the correct place.

I'm transferring from the Pixel to the Mac. And then iCloud photo library sends it to my other devices, and that's when it shows in the wrong order on the iPhone.
