I am a fairly casual photographer. I have been paying for a Lightroom sub to edit my raw files, and then import the JPEG files I export into Photos.app for organization. I love the cloud sync of photos.app. I would like to move my editing over to photos.app and save myself $10 a month.

One thing I cannot get photos to do, and cannot find an extension for, is lens distortion. Does anyone have any tips on this.

Are there any other great extensions I should be looking at to replace some basic lightroom functionality?

Extensions in the wild are just a week or two old. While there are some interesting ones from Macphun and Serif (Affinity Photo), none that exist right now do lens distortion correction. DXO has said they are working on an extension but it's unclear whether it will offer that function, but if anyone will do it, they'd be the most likely. It would be nice if the PTLens chap would write one.

Why? As someone who uses Lightroom for organisation, I find this weird.
Because I love several aspect of photos. I love how it easily syncs all my photos everywhere. It is a joy to browse my photos on the iPad, and very handy to have all my photos available on my phone. With Lightroom you have to remember to sync collections to mobile. I love how it intergrates with the entire Apple ecosystem so well. Finally, it is just leans and runs fast.

I don't have very complex organization needs. I make an album for each event, and sort them into a folder for each year.

If you're interested, DxO just released an extension for Photos that does lens corrections, among other things.
