iPhone Photos app not indexing - search function broken

I've perused the iOS 17 sub-forum and I took a long look here to find that no one else seems to be having this problem (kind of bummed to see that I'm the only one).

I seem to have lost the ability to search my photo library. Used to be that typing "Cat" would bring up all the pictures taken of my pets. Not so anymore. Searching for names and locations is likewise broken.

Per the phone's instructions, I left the device plugged in overnight to help facilitate full indexing, but there has been no change since doing so. This issue has roughly corresponded to the latest iOS upgrade (17.0.2), but I don't see anyone else having the problem.

Does anyone here have any idea of what's going on and what I may do about it?

Having the exact same problem and I don’t know what to do. This is a real problem for me because I use my Photos app every single day for work and I have to search back very far into my photos several times a day. Not sure what to do.
