Photo's App picture order?

I changed the order of both the Photo's app's on both of my 6S's so that the newest picture shows up on the bottom vs the top (default).

I had to get one 6S swapped due to a faulty home button and now I cannot find where I make this change again.

I have pretty much looked everywhere.

I should clarify that its in camera roll where the pictures are now showing newest at top instead of bottom.

Seems like this is a iOS 9.0/.1 bug... Very annoying

You cannot change the sort order if photo roll. Oldest are on Top and Newset on the bottom. I hope for iOS10 to change the order.

Pretty sure it's a 9.1 restore bug.

Yes sorted by date but newest should always be on bottom.

My newest pictures from the backup are all the way at the top.

It's in complete reverse order. Then a
Picture I took yesterday shows up next to my oldest picture.

Pictures added into camera roll are sorted in the order they are added with newest at the bottom. If you add a bulk of pictures it will not sort them using meta data from the photos. The order can be completely random.

Then explain to me why every other time I've restored a phone the camera roll has restored properly in the correct order.

When restoring it has always stayed the same for me as well. But since that information is in the restore and not how camera roll actually originizes it. Then something might have gone wrong. And there is nothing you can do except trying to restore again or adding pictures on by one.

This happened to me when iCloud Photo Library was new. I have taken maybe 500 photos since so my camera roll is half random and half correct. But that's just in the album all picture. Luckily in photos that it sorts it in order.

The Camera Roll is now just another "album" that happens to get populated with the photos taken by the iOS device's camera. So the most recent photos from the camera end up last. The Camera Roll no longer has to include all the photos on your iDevice. OTOH Photos (e.g. Years, Collections, etc.) does contain all the photos and is always displayed sorted chronologically with the most recent at the bottom.

So if you upload a set of pictures taken in the past via Photosync to the Camera Roll, they will all show up at the end of the Camera Roll AND interspersed chronologically into Photos (e.g. Years, Collections, etc).

I've talked now to 3 different levels of AppleCare specialists and none have mentioned anything about camera roll changing.

I'm guessing this change occurred with 9.1?

I just updated my last iToy (an iPad Mini 1) from iOS 7.x to iOS 9.1. So I can’t verify that the Camera Roll behavior actually “changed”. It may just be the optics of the layout of the Photos app in iOS 9.x. But I am certain that my description of how the Camera Roll currently works in Photos (iOS 9.x) is correct— the Camera Roll is just an album with the special property that any photos taken with the camera are added to the end.

FWIW I know this because I foolishly uploaded several GB of photos from our 5s to my new 6s Camera Roll, took some shots on the 6s, and uploaded some more photos, took some more shots on the 6s..... Now it is difficult to separate the photos I uploaded from the ones taken with the 6s camera because Photos in iOS is missing that handy "get info" feature of Photos in OSX that allows you to see the source (e.g. the camera model) that took the photo.
