So far in the limited time (less than an hour) I've poked around Photos App, seems a little unintuitive for a photos app. its simple yet complex at the same time.
So i migrated my aperture library over, seems to be fine, except it dumped into a catch all folder called iPhoto Events ??? interesting.
And some other smart albums were kind of separated into various albums - ie; light tables inside various projects were separated from the projects, smart albums were separated, etc. I guess nature of the app?
It kept the edits, but they are no longer granular edits; it seems either revert to original or this is your last copy wiht the edits no more fine tuning the metadata filters, etc.
no obvious (to me) way to switch between RAW/JPEG, unfortunately my initial Aperture import was import both RAW+JPEG and one was master. I may need to split them into separate albums and reimport.
No skimming of albums, while it was small it was nice to skim through the project quickly to see if my photo was in there
no sorting albums by date?
Its an improvement for iPhoto thats for sure, Aperture...not yet. not really even close. Lightroom is just yuck, I'm no fan of the organizational elements of it and similarly to Photos it imports the edits as final with no way to granular edit the the photo
