oh. I dont really care. That's just for the library. I have other copies going to local backups that dont alter the name.

You dont backup your photos?

The internal structure of the photo library has changed, but your original photos are all still there.

You can do File -> Export Unmodified Original for any number of files and get the originals exported with their original names.

You dont backup your photos?

I backup my photos to several locations, each with their original file names. This way if a photo is missing or corrupted, I can search for it in my multiple locations by name.

But when they originate from my iPhone, they will no longer be backed up with that name. I use iCloud Photos as a conduit to keep my Macs in sync. From there, the backups initiate from the library to other clouds.
