Hi,

I'm running a late 2008 Macbook with El Capitan here at work. I use to take pictures with my phone and then post them to Facebook after they synced themselves to the iCloud Library on the Mac. Until today it worked fine, but now Photos.app won't open any more. I can't even access the "repair library" option because it crashes right at the beginning.

Safe mode doesn't change anything, neither does repairing disc permissions.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks in advance

[doublepost=1475251526][/doublepost]The path as shown in the first picture (Library/Frameworks) by the way does not exist on my machine. Neither in the root folder nor in my user folder.

No path because it seems to be saying it can't find it, although Photos is looking for it.

Have you tried chucking the prefs for Photos? that might help (keep a backup obviously).

Have you tried opening a new library, i.e. holding down "option" when starting up Photos? or does it crash even before that?

Can you copy the library and open it in Photos on another machine?

Hey,

thanks for the reply! Deleting/moving prefs did nothing. Option-Click does not work, meaning the same happens. It won't even make it to the point where I could select another library.

Will try to open the library on another Mac next week...

With an 8 yr old Mac it is possibly a hard disk error. Repairing permissions does not address this problem. You should try repairing the disk with Disk Utility. As it is your boot disk you will need to use Apple Hardware Test (search Apple Support) - restart and press the D key.
If errors are found then apps like Photos might have been corrupted and you should consider reinstalling OSX.
Make sure you have backed up important data (eg Photos library) before trying repairs.

Reinstalled over night. It did the trick, thank you all!
