Hi ;)

Is anyone else seeing performance issues with the Photos app in High Sierra? My Mac is so slow when the Photos app is open, that I nearly can't use it. All the face detection and syncing of the 5000 pics in my iCloud Library is over and done. I've set the format to the new size saving formats on my iPhone if that matters anything?

Photos is running at around 50% CPU when active and with 600 MB RAM, but what caught my biggest attention is VTEncoderXPCService. It is running at a CPU load of close to 200% all the time when the Photos app is running, and closing Photos makes it disappear and my Mac is fine again.

What can I do about it, and what is this VTEncoderXPCService?

Setting your phone to HIEF might be the issue. VTEncoderXPCService is probably trying to convert them.
