Hello! I'm having a problem with the photos app.

I had an iPhone 8+ and 100GB or so of photos and videos, maybe more.

Yesterday I bought an iPhone 12 and chose to transfer the data from my old phone to the new one. It sent all of my old photos and videos to the iPhone 12.

Unfortunately, my iPhone 12 is now trying to "backup" all the pictures I just transferred, even though they're already on iCloud. It's just spinning its wheels, and in the meantime my phone is slow and it's clogging up my home wifi network.

Is there anyway I can make it stop, without turning off backup? I still want it to backup any *new* photos I take.

Thanks for any ideas!

If it says it is updating or uploading photos on the iPhone 12 then I’ve found this is perfectly normal when you transfer content from one phone to another. I assume this is apple checking the photo library on your phone to ensure all photos are also in iCloud. You just have to let it finish.
