Photos from messages problem

My wife sends me photos of our baby daily, and I save them to my camera roll and then delete the message, the next day they are no longer in my camera roll or in iCloud? This has only started happening after installing IOS 15 is there any fix to this problem?

I have the same issue. I hate it. The only thing you can do is go to photo library and choose the pic and tap duplicate.

There is this "new" functionality, where Photos show photos from other apps. Might be messing with your workflow. Go to settings / messages / shared with you and disable it.

I was also quite annoyed when it started messing with my camera roll. If I want to save/keep photos, I'll do it myself.

I understand that it "might" save some forgotten photos from messages, but what about Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram...

I like a clean messages interface. What happens after a year or 30 days for people with the auto delete feature on? The “saved” photos are just going to vanish because the message is gone now? That doesn’t make any sense.

In ios14 you tap save and you’re done. Now you have to tap save then go to your library and choose the photos and tap duplicate. So now you have two of everything but at least one won’t vanish overnight. It’s so stupid. I don’t understand.

That's ridiculous. I'm sure they'll fix this soon.

So I have figured out the problem, you save the photo from your messages, delete the message and then backup your phone, during the backup is when the photo disappears, it only saves if you keep the message
