Photos library takes up lots of space, but no space?

My original iPhoto library is 117Gb.

I had around 65Gb of hard disc space free.

I 'upgraded' to Photos.

My Photos library is 137Gb.

...and I have about 60Gb of hard disc space free.

Something, somewhere, isn't telling the truth.


My suspicion is that one of the libraries is mirroring the other one?
