My Photos library has about 110,000 photos and library.

After upgrading to DP6, launching Photos app triggered "repair" screen. I proceeded with repair and once done, it showed only about 34,000 photos and videos.

Panicked, I checked "Masters" folder in Photos library and it shows all 110,000 photos and video. So I duplicated Masters folder to a different disk and attempted to re-import. Well, Photos app prompts that every single one of these photos and videos are already imported.

I tried rebuilding the library but nada.

I obviously logged it as a bug, but this is pretty scary stuff.

I am guessing my only workaround is to create entirely new Photos library and import every photos and videos from Masters folder. Sigh.

Are they missing or is the Photos library damaged? Not sure if you repaired it using the following steps below, so I thought I'd post it just in case. If that doesn't work, I recommend "PowerPhotos".

Try this first:

Photos for OS X: Repair your library

If you experience problems with photos in a library, Photos can try to repair it. If problems persist, you can also restore your library from a Time Machine backup.

Important: You should back up your photo library before repairing your library.
  1. If Photos is open, choose Photos > Quit Photos.

  2. Press Option-Command and double-click the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock).

    The Repair Library window opens.

  3. Click Repair to rebuild your photo library.
For information about restoring photos from your iCloud Photo Library, see Access your photos and videos everywhere with iCloud Photo Library.

Do you have a time machine backup of it? I had a similar problem not too long ago, I ended up restoring a time machine backup and it fixed it!

This is a known bug that should have been fixed. I reported this in DP1. The latest beta seem to have fixed it.

My library went from 32,000 photos and 4000 videos to after repair 600 photos and 80 videos. :)

Added the photos diagnostics profile, and gathered information that was provided to Apple.
