Other Photos on old phone show photos not saved?

Is their a Setting I’m unaware of for photos. In my photo album on my phone12 Some photos have a little message icon and give the option of “save shared photo”


These photos aren’t showing in my photo album on my new device.

im assuming these are photos that are in my messages?
But why isn’t it showing the same way on my iPhone 13?

Do message photos not download across devices? If iCloud has messages on

My iPhone 12 isn’t on Wi-Fi or data right now but shouldn’t the messages that are on there have come over to my new iPhone? Or does it take time to come over and I need both on Wi-Fi
