Just curious - I'm only getting the 16gb since I will mostly use this to surf the internet on my couch and not as a media consumption device...however I was thinking it might be nice to sync my iPhoto library...it's currently around 10gb...but is it going to put the 10gbs of photos on the iPad or is their some sort of optimization that goes on that will result in a much lower space premium?

I use the following free program to batch resize all my photos for the iPhone, saves a lot of space http://www.irfanview.com/. You can just point to a main folder and convert all your pictures at once, pretty nice.

If your surfing the internet, your consuming media, unless your just starting blankly at it.

What is the resolution of these images, you could lower them a bit, being a photographer I plan on putting only my best images on the device, some will be used for backgrounds.

I am getting the 16gb and plan to sync my photos. However, I plan on syncing a 'best of' photos. Just sync the real good ones. I upload everything to picasaweb anyway, so i'll have those photos when in wifi area.

Obviously I'm consuming media when I surf the internet ;) - I meant I wasn't going to load the thing down with videos or music. I think on the iPhone it lowers the image quality to be a smaller file size, no? Hoping this works on the iPad to - I want to keep the full HQ pics on my desktop...but it would be nice to have my entire library on my iPad without taking up a full 10gb.....

iTunes resizes pictures before transferring them to the iPhone/iPod Touch so I imagine it would do the same with the iPad.
