I am using Photos, and working in the "All Photos" mode which is where I start out with my pictures. I entered them "automatically" as taken with my iPhone and as downloaded from my Canon camera when I had that. Otherwise they are digitized images by a friend or as I manage to scan them into my Mac from old photos. I am aware that they are going to go into Photos in the sequence that they are entered into my Mac, using a "correct" date if one exists or "today's" date if one does not exist. That has given me a picture train that is not in sequence. I have compensated for that in the past by manually going in and adjusting the date/time to move the photos into roughly the sequence they should be in. Now I am trying to refine that, and am finding that adjusting the date/time is not moving the photos to the right place.

I have researched enough that I believe that I cannot drag-and-drop photos in All Photos. I have read that I can do this if I first put photos into albums or make a slide show. I would rather select pictures from a historically sequenced master file to do either. What I am wondering, have I somehow overlooked an easier way of sequencing photos?

I set the date and time of photos that don't have a date and time associated with them, and the photos always are in the correct sequence...unless the location/time zone hasn't been set. So, when I take photos with an old digital camera in Europe, I find those photos aren't in the correct sequence until I also set the location/time zone for those photos. Is it possible that's the problem?

Stephen, that is what I had been doing, and it had been working. Until yesterday. For some reason they wouldn't move or would move in the wrong direction. I am virtually certain there isn't an alternative, so I will have to try again when I regain the initiative. But will continue to hold out hope that someone will have an easier solution!!

Work in the "Photos" option rather than "All Photos". They should be in the correct date order.

They are in the date order according to the date I entered when editing the metadata. Many have no "true" dates, only the date they were entered into the Mac. I cannot drag-and-drop them out of the entry date sequence. Only way I an move them is to adjust the date. I have many to adjust, and it would would be easier to drag to the correct sequence and then adjust (if I still wanted to), then to have to try to figure out what the sequence should be then adjust each one. And it seems to make no difference whether I am in "Photos" or "All Photos".
