I recently bought an iPhone 13 mini. When I got done setting it up I looked at the photos on it. It had a ton of photos on it that were not in Photos before. It appears to have scoured the HD on my laptop and imported quite a few photos that were on my HD but where not in my Photos app on the laptop.

I called Apple and the said that I probably had iCloud turned on and all the photos synched through iCloud. But I checked and I do not have iCloud turned on. Typically if I take a photo with the phone then the photo is in Photos. But I also have a camera and I back those photos up on my laptop. I don't usually import those photos into Photos. But somehow many of those pictures got in the Photos app on my iPhone.

I'm stumped. I don't like that it appears Photos is scouring my HD for photos and is importing them without my permission.

Anybody have anything similar happen to them?
