When taking a photo from within the Messages app (by tapping "+" and then camera and taking a picture) seemingly do not contain any geolocation information. When taking a photo from the Camera app directly, photos are geotagged.

I assume that is some sort of feature, but is there a way to enable geotagging of photos taken from within the Messages app?

It's a privacy/safety feature that we don't have control of. It's intended to help prevent you from accidentally sharing your location to others.

If you want to send a photo with a geotagged location to someone, you need to use the Camera app first and then send the photo from your photo library.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. :)
