I’m having two issues with photos as they relate to the Messages app:

1) On iOS 11, when you would use the camera through the Messages app, it would NOT save that image to the camera roll. This was helpful if you wanted to just snap something to someone but not necessarily save it. On iOS 12 it now saves to the camera roll. Any way to revert back to the old behavior?

2) Using the camera in the Messages app results in a long lag (3-5 seconds) for the photo to show up. Anyone else seeing this?? It’s really frustrating...

1) in iOS 12, what you describe is now the new intended behaviour. If you take a picture within Messages, after taking the picture, whether or not you click “Done” or the blue arrow, the photo gets automatically saved to your Camera Roll so the photo isn’t lost if you delete the Messages conversation/photo. There is no way to revert this to the old bevaviour in iOS 11.

2) I’m not seeing any lag when taking a picture within Messages. iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 12 GM installed via DFU mode through iTunes IPSW file.

I like the change. I didn't like having to open the image in the message and then save it to keep it. It would have been nice if they gave you a little pop-up option like they do with screenshots to keep or delete after you're done with it.
