I just installed Security Update 2005-009 yesterday and today my Photoshop is acting totally crazy. The program will start up just fine but when I try to create a new document or open any type of file, I get the beach ball for about 2 minutes and then the error "Could not complete your request because of a program error." I used Photoshop the same day (but before) I installed the Security Update and experienced no problems. That's the only thing I have done different to my system. I have tried to repair permissions, trash prefence file, trash entire Photoshop preference folder. I don't want to re-install the OS to back off the security update, but I will if any you think it's necessary. Has anyone else come upon this problem?

p.s. Powerbook 1.67, 512, OS X 10.4.3, Photoshop CS (v. 8)

CS2? Try starting up Photoshop while holding down cmd-opt-shift, and answer yes when it asks to remove your settings. That usually fixes it.

(I've also had this happen when switching a running computer over to another network, but a simple reboot fixed that.)

Forgot to add it's CS1 (can't afford any more upgrades). So I take it this trick works for both versions.
