Hi everyone
I need a new computer to be heavily used for editting photo's and video. I will be mainly using CS3 alongside other programs. Which model of desktop would you advise going for? I need something that's quick and won't becoming outdated soon. Also, the cheapest possible for my needs. Thanks a lot

i would suggest the mac pro for heavy video editing but if you can do the imac instead, you'd save a lot more money..

imac is very capable, but from what you're saying, you'd benefit better by using a pro machine.

if you can afford the mac pro, go for it.

but you also mention iMac in the topic subject, so i'm a bit confused.. lol!

are you asking which iMac model to go for?

if so, get the 24" as the extra screen space will serve you well..

Yeah was mainly looking at iMacs for money's sake.

Video editting will be few and far between - will mainly be for photos. THey will run CS3 well won't they?

I have a 2.4GHz, 24" iMac and it runs CS3 very well. I only have 2GB RAM on it right now and haven't had any issues, though I will probably bump that up to 4GB at some point.

Still with 1 GB it works well for small to medium jobs in Photoshop. I've only encountered lag when editing tabloid sized posters and above. I am, however, waiting for a a ram upgrade to be delivered cause I need to use more software other than PS alone.

(BTW, been on Mac for less than a week so you know haha)
