I posted this in the applications forum a couple days ago, but I've been getting regular program errors from CS2; after about 6-8 months of no problems whatsoever, it just randomly started doing it in the middle of a project three days ago. Here's the situation: when I open an image, it says that the image cannot be opened due to a program error. When I try to create a new image I get the same error. OCCASIONALLY one or two images will work, but it isn't related to filetype or origin of the image. I have tried all 7 of the adobe help page suggestions; all of them result in being able to open apps for about ten minutes and then the program errors beginning again. My next step is a fresh install of OSX, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had these errors recently and, if so, how they solved them.

I'm running CS2 on a dual 2.0 gHz G5 using 10.4.8. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I currently have to do my work on Photoshop 7 on a G3 imac...

Before you go for a new OS X install, have you tried throwing away Photoshop's preferences file? Move it to the desktop and restart Photoshop. If that doesn't help, then you can easily put it back.

Home folder>Library>Preferences>Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings

Although I use CS1 at work, many similar problems, particularly with Adobe Distiller and Illustrator are cured with either a permissions repair, an app restart or Mac restart, although I guess you've tried these things...

You could also try reinstalling Photoshop, perhaps into a new account, just to see whether it's an account-related problem.

Sorry, should have specified: both of those were part of the Adobe help page instructions (steps 2 and 3, if I'm not mistaken, which I probably am). Thanks for the thought, though. :)

I am going to actually do a clean OSX install later tonight. I figure screw it, better safe then sorry, plus I can get rid of a bunch of crap I haven't used in forever...
