Photoshop file into InDesign Doc - Best way to import?

I recently set a report cover up in Photoshop with some gradients etc. The client approved but has asked for the Document to be setup in InDesign as they will be flowing text themselves.

I am an oldskool "Quark" guy but do know some of the ins and outs of InDesign. I just purchased Adobe CS3 and am wondering what the best way is to go about doing this.

Is it best to just save as Photoshop .eps and import cover as a whole ( al la Quark) OR is there another easier way to import/export - copy and paste etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just save it as a regular photoshop file and do a cmd-D (place) on it. That's it. Seriously.

I usually just group all the layers in photoshop and then drag across into indesign (and this is in windows)

Do you guys usually flatten the file first - then drag?

I feel like I have been living in the dark ages with Quark

In Quark, I use layered TIFFs for certain layouts... although on most things I'll flatten them just to put a little unsharp masking on many items.

I've had problems with layered Photoshop files in earlier versions of InDesign.

There's really no need to flatten. There may have been in the past, as BV alludes to, but I've been using InDesign daily since the original CS and it works flawlessly with layered files.
