The new Photoshop Icon has been around for a while now, but I didn't find a thread here, so I figured I'd post one.

What do you think of it?

Personally, it doesn't suit Photoshop. A speech bubble? Please.

I think it is supposed to be a P, but I can see what you mean. Definitely doesn't look like the icon for a professional graphics application.

This was from the Press Doc:
To represent this rich family of products, Adobe is introducing the Photoshop visual logo. This logo will soon appear in all Photoshop-related marketing, so keep an eye out for it. The Photoshop logo on a product, service, or technology, represents the rich legacy, technical quality, and attention to detail that has made Photoshop the gold standard in digital imaging.

I can see the P too, but I do believe that they could have done a better job making an icon for it. Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing, but it doesn't suit Adobe and Photoshop.

UGH. I just got done adjusting to the pompous and un-user-friendly squares with two letters in them. Now I have to have like three speech bubbles in my dock for various apps. Oh hell no. I'll be searching out a more Aqua-HIG-compliant icon shortly.

Maybe like one of the old PS loading screen montages with a 3d angle like laying on a drawing board and a paintbrush or something. But not this.

Urgh. I like the blue-squared CS3 icon much more. It looks so professional, especially compared to this new sh*t.

I loved the CS2 feather icon. CS3's blue box is actually pretty professional, after I adjusted to it. This new speech bubble? F**k that. Looks like another IM client.

"The new Photoshop IM client allows you to use all of your instant messaging accounts in one program. Chat on MSN, ICQ, AOL, all at the same time. Best of all, it's only $699. Early subscribers get a bonus feature that allows you to also draw pretty pictures"

To be frank its well, crap.
I love the CS3 one atm where all of the other Adobe products have matching icons, looks very swish
I was also a fan of the feather, that was some real PS talent to create that ;)

I just want to make it clear, this is not an icon that will replace Photoshop's app icon, it's just a new icon representing the family of photoshop applications, probably gonna be used on web and else, like the statement above says.

And yeah, I think it looks... bad.

I totally agree .... it's crap

Honestly I do not like the square logos because I think they don't look professional they look cheap. I liked the feather, and even the after effects logo, which doesn't match the new ones btw..

This speech thing looks too much like the iChat icon.. I will get confused.

This icon is for the Photoshop 'brand', not the application.

I kinda like that new logo, but it's nothing to write home about. I see what everyone is saying about a speech bubble that's not what I thought when i first saw it.

It's much better than the CS3 Periodic Table icons they use for all the apps right now. I hate that design, reminds me of Chemistry class every time I open an Adobe program.

I always liked the old ones, i don't know why companies feel the need to constantly change things.
