Hi, In Photoshop CS3, can I make a raggy/old fashioned/postcard edge on a photograph?

If so, can somebody tell me how? thanks alot,

I'm glad you called your own self that name, Rhett. You must know yourself best. You see, I don't know what to google. When I google my question, I get my own question on this forum! Ha. I would appreciate anyones help that wants to be helpful......... I appreciate it alot.

Are you saying that a raggy postcard edge did not come on my photoshop CS3? but that I may find one as a template somewhere else and buy it?

ps: i am a beginner.

Would appreciate a straight answer from someone who knows and wants to be helpful. thanks

Hi there,

In addition, you may also want to look into PhotoFrame from onOne Software (http://www.ononesoftware.com/detail.php?prodLine_id=10). It is a PS plugin that comes with loads of predefined edge effects and also lets you create your own. While it is a little expensive, it is a pretty handy thing to have on hand.

Cheers! :)

Okay, first. Scan a piece of burnt/old paper or find a texture online(High-Res). The crop it down to the size you want. Then make an brush or download a brush(google Photoshop brushes) Find one that has an rough edge then just use it to delete the edges to what you want it to look like. Try it a couple different ways.

If you don't have an scanner, find one cheap cause awesome!!!

+10

To make old rustic maps I take parchment paper, crumple it up really good, then burn the edges with matches.

Sometimes nothing's easier than the real thing.

Yes, it's right underneath the magic everything tool.

What was the shortcut for that? I'm a keyboard shortcut kind of designer when at all possible. I would find that knowing that combination would be incredibly handy when a client shows up unannounced and wants to see some progress.

Open apple + option + ctrl + shift + }

It's close to save for web :p

you'll just lost me on this one. just wanted a vintage postcard edge if one was on my CS3. but thanks anyway

I was kind of wondering where the easy button was in photoshop..... does any one know where I can find that? :)

Yep, its hidden away though - it looks up your local professional designer/artworker, sends them an email, calls them to explain, transfers payment from your account to theirs, opens the files they sent you and shows them on screen. Computers are getting real clever!

(If I told you where this button was, Adobe would kill us both :p)

It's right next to the "Remove Beard & Glasses" filter and just above the "Age By 20 Years" filter that seem to get installed by default on the machines used in just about every police/investigation show on TV these days.

Personally, I'd particularly like to get hold of a copy of the "Extract Seemingly Infinite Amounts Of Detail From Fuzzy Security Camera Shots" filter.

Cheers!
