i use my intuos 4 on windows and it works fine, but someone wanted to trial it before buying so i let them use it
they use a mac and i downloaded the latest drivers from the wacom site for OSX

when we opened photoshop it worked fine to start with, but then when we switched to eraser we had to push really really hard and it only erased sometimes
it even changed the old graphire so it also had to do the same...

does anyone know what might be the problem? a setting in photoshop or a fault with mac perhaps?

When you say "switched to eraser" do you mean you turned the pen around and used the eraser end, or do you mean you switched the active tool to eraser?

If you're talking about the eraser end of the pen, you can probably fix the issue by adjusting the pressure sensitivity in Mac OS System Preferences. There should be a pane for the Intuos 4 that has all of those settings.

If you're talking about the nib end of the pen (and the pressure is fine when using the other tools), I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Either way, mess with the sensitivity settings.

by 'switched to eraser' i meant flipping the pen over and also switching the active tool to eraser (not at the same time)

the pressure is fine with the other tools it's just the eraser..
but we did adjust the pressure sensitivity a bit and we didn't have to push as hard, although it was still relatively hard..
