I am trying to load some of the custom shapes into the shapes pallet, but for some reason the menu is grayed out and cannot be selected.

I've rebooted the computer a few times, still the same.

Anyone ever seen this bug, or have any idea what I can do to fix it?

Huh, the menu is incomplete too.

First thing to try, give Photoshop a boot in the pants. Launch it, immediately hold down shift-option-apple, and tell it Yes to "Delete Adobe Photoshop Settings file?".

If that doesn't do anything, look inside your Photoshop application folder and make sure there's a Presets folder in there, and that inside that is a Custom shapes folder with the usual prefab *.csh files. If anything looks like it's missing or weird, you may want to think about a reinstall.

If the first doesn't clear up the problem and everything looks normal under the app folder, is anything other than that menu acing strangely? If you click on the amoeba on in the left of the toolbar and then the flyout menu from there, can you get into the preset manager? Does the menu work from inside the preset manager's custom shapes tab?

Sorry, I hadn't realized someone responded.

I discovered that the menu appears normally when there are no files open, but if I have a file open, it's what I posted before.

I'll try those ideas and post my results.
