Photoshop on mac 27"

Is it just me or does Illustrator and Photoshop run really slow on the mac. I have a 27" i7 8gb 1tb. Every time i apply gradients or something i get a little watch on my screen to wait. Sometimes When i make a 3d layer i get the spinning ball. Is there anything i can do increase performance. I running snow leopard 32 bit. Thanks in advance

32bit snow leopard on a core i7? anyway, im not experiencing these issues on my i7 with photoshop CS4. maybe you need to reinstall or upgrade to the latest version of photoshop.

I am running cs4. I did all my updates ran permissions check everything.

There's no 32 bit Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is 64 bit only, but can run 32 bit applications.

Edit: Quoted the wrong person, but to the OP, Snow Leopard is 64 bit only.

Sometimes it helps to remove the plist :

Remove your plist and set it aside somewhere safe.

Start CS4

Check your Performance settings under Preferences for optimal settings.


If you are short of room on your scratch disk, this will cause a slow down.

there are probably tens of thousands of plists on his computer. it would help to tell him which one he should try removing.
