Hi,

I have a WD raptor 74gb as my OS + Apps disk, and also have a portioned 250gb drive that has some data on each partition. on one of the partitions I have 75 out of and 80gb partition left, so i have tried to set it as my scratch disk (to save the scratch disk being the same as the disk that PS is on) but when i try to start PS up it just gives me a "disk not available" warning and closes down. I've now switched back to the raptor.

Can anyone tell me what is going wrong... Danké

Make sure that you have given yourself permission to create a folder at the top level of that disk. Specifically, PS will need to make a folder called /Volumes/volumename/.TemporaryItems it it isn't already there.

If that directory already exists (you'll need to check in Terminal), you will also need permission to create files within that directory.

I'm in an admin account - will that not give me automatic permission?
Maybe, maybe not :) (an admin can ask for permission via stuff like sudo, but doesn't get permission to act all godlike by default.) What happens if you try to create that directory by hand from Terminal? (Or if it already exists, what happens if you try to create a file inside it?)
