Just installed my new Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB and removed my previous two ATI Radeon 5770 1GB cards.

Just ran the Puget Systems Photoshop Test (takes about 30 minutes). Here are my results. I was really surprised that there was essentially no difference?

Interesting real world, hands on fact. Thanks for posting this info.

Luxmark scores would be different I suspect.

My Sapphire DUAL-X 7970 3gb Vs my RX 580 8gb would be an interesting comparison in PugetBench but I'm too busy to install it at the moment timewise.

I see that you're running 10.13.6. IIRC, RX580 drivers improved in 10.14. And I think you said you wanted to 580 to upgrade to 10.14, something which 2x5770 wouldn't allow.

That said, I don't know CC PS well enough to predict whether that will improve things.

But IMHO, one should perform a "complete before and after" comparison. I think you have the "before" benchmark. Update the firmware to 144 and OS to 10.14.6 and try the "after" with the RX580.

@kohlson is 100% correct with the RX580-series drivers in 10.13 vs 10.14. The RX580 "works" in 10.13, but works better in 10.14 (even better than in 10.15)

You may find some of these reports helpful for comparison:

For comparison my results with Mojave, X5677 (quad core 3,46), 32 GB RAM, RX 470 4 GB Sapphire Platinum and old Samsung SSD (SATA):

I will probably perform the "after/after" test in a few days and will post results here.

A couple things I have noticed so far in the past 24 hours since swapping out the video card:

• I started getting occasional red outlines around certain windows right after upgrading to High Sierra a few months ago - usually on one of the monitors I was not working on and dragging that window to another monitor would fix it? I also had a problem with playing Quicktime movies in HS where the control menu would stay visible until I moved my mouse cursor to a different screen? Both these issues have vanished since swapping cards.

• I always thought my Mac Pro was nearly silent with the previous two cards, but I cannot hear the computer running at all now - dead quiet!

With RX580, in my case, Mojave is definitely better, smoother, less buggy than HS. If you have any spare hard drive laying setting, worth to give it a try.
