Is gimp okay? Or you lack some basic features like in photoshop that gimp cannot do like?

Things that photoshop can do that gimp cannot.

- make some one look older or younger
- change sky from blue to green to make alien planet
- change color of person hair from blond to red or what ever color you want
- make person look skinny or fat
- change you skin color from white to black or hispanic
- change color of car from blue to purple just for fun or what ever color
- change the color of your shirt or pants
- remove that sign blocking the house
- remove that person from the photo
- make image from 20's look new
- remove skin wrinkles and make you self look younger

I find GIMP to be totally UNintuitive and hard to use. I mean ... to draw a friggin line or circle took me an hour to figure out, and I still can't do it consistently. It is very poorly designed, in terms of user experience.

Haven't used photoshop much at all, so don't know.

FOSS software like GIMP and Inkscape are great if they have the features that you need and if you are okay with the awkwardness of applications that often strive to be cross-platform instead of native to an OS. Instead of GIMP vs Photoshop or Inkscape vs. Illustrator, have a serious look at Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. I'm not sure that you can beat their feature sets for the price (https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/).

Actually if you are familiar with all the tools and options of GIMP, you can do many image editing works same as Photoshop. But, still there many shortcomings in GIMP being a community based free software, on the other hand, true to say, Photoshop can do a wide variety of image editing tasks being a pioneer photo editing tool. Anyway, here we have tied to find out the basic differences between the two software. You can go through our site: https://www.colorexpertsbd.com/blog/brief-comparison-photoshop-gimp

Most things you mentioned neither Photoshop nor Gimp can do, just the artist (you) using these apps.

One important thing for me that GIMP can't do at the time of writing is handling real CMYK color.

The only people who say GIMP is a viable alternative to Photoshop are people who can't afford to buy Photoshop and people who don't know how to use Photoshop adequately.

I really like Affinity apps, but even they have a long list of shortcomings compared to Photoshop and Illustrator. They are however, the ONLY apps that are true alternatives for print designers—because they're the only ones that work with CMYK and Pantone colors.

I have and use photoshop although do not know how to use half of it.

I do use paintbrush on my iMac for quick very basic edits to line drawings.

Gimp is not easy to use but once you learn is a good tool.
I am more used to photoshop though.

had 2004MX, then CS3 and got a later CS now I forget which one.
Although only my latest one is for Mac the others are windows.

I have used both Photoshop and Gimp, I agree Photoshop is easier to use and will do a lot more..
