Photostream only pulling in 6 photos

I got my iPhone 7 Plus yesterday and for some reason my photostream is only pulling in 6 photos that were taken yesterday on my iPad.

I have a couple hundred photos in my photostream that are not coming through to my new phone.

Any idea how to fix this?

How old are the photos? Photostream only keeps past 30 days of photos. If you want them in cloud permanently then use iCloud Photo Library.

I would have expected the photos 30 days old or less to come through. Spoke with apple care and they claim that with new a new phone only new pics taken that day going forward come through smh.

I don't want to use up my iCloud storage space on all my photos by using the library feature. The stream was good enough for me.
