Right now I am mostly happy writing my PHP project using jEdit. Mostly happy. I was hoping to use Xcode 3, but it doesn't have proper syntax coloring for PHP or SQL. I read a post at macosxhints.com that had a way to add coloring to xcode, but alas, it doesn't work with xcode 3.

BBEdit sounded promising, but it has no "build" button (or a key to press to run a build/script to build etc). I use ant to deploy my php scripts to the live web server directory, so I need a quick way to run a script. No build and no vert editor split (could live without I suppose) killed that promise. Perhaps I over looked the build button/shortcut?

Suggestions?

Thanks muchly!

I think I have settled on TextMate. Not an IDE persay, but a kick but editor. CodeSnippets like jEdit's abbeviations, better way of doing an external build, and hey, it is a native mac app. You can't go wrong. So far the only thing it lacks, which is kind of a big thing is splitting the text area.

TextMate can run php files and display output using PhpMate.

I would have thought way to test would be to run the site/page locally first.
