Hi need some help with php and mysql problems I am new into this...

I wanted to change the server of my hosting, and this is what my hosting company told me to provide

mySQL 4.0 or 4.1 or 5.x (Please confirm which you require, new servers are 5.x and all servers are being upgraded to 5.x eventually)
PHP 4 or 5 PHP exec(), system(), or dl() functions

I have checked my joomla and ipb, and this is what I asked the host:

Can I keep the php to 4.4.4 version, and MySQL to 4.1 version after to the new server?
Sorry you would not be able to use php 4 and mysql4 when moved to the server having higher versions

I am wondering if I am using php 4.4.4 version and mySQL 4.1, if I change to new servers, which is mySQL 5.x and php 5, what is going to happen with my site?

Is that a really big problem or I don't have to worry about this at all?

I have asked my hosting company support team they just won't provide me any helpful answer and said I have to find it out myself...

I hope someone can help me here...just afraid to have anything bad happen to my site/forum ><

Thanks.

The mysql server shouldn't be a problem, but if the IPB is an old version, you might run into difficulties since some older functions from PHP 4 have been removed and replaced with globalized functions/replacements in PHP 5.

If you have an old version of IPB, update now, and get rid of further headaches.
