php iweb

Hello, i am starting out with PHP development, and really like the way iweb makes its sites (using iweb as a framework anyway), but i have a few problems:

1) where to i embed PHP into the iweb pages, i noticed that it is XML, and does it matter
2) if this is possible, parsing, i am using apache 2.2, and PHP 5.2.5
