physical damage to SD Card-- consequences?

This may be a silly question, considering the cost of SD Cards these days, but the plastic pins separating the metal contacts on one of my SDCards appear to be in the process of breaking off. I realize that if they actually break off in my camera or my imac, they might case headaches. for future reference, would breaking off the separator pins cause any harm?

I ordered a replacement, but one of these days, I might need to know this...

I've never seen this, but I'd not risk putting it inside any device. Even if you take them off first I'd be concerned.
What brand is it? I always go for sandisk as I know they are reliable.

That's a bit worrying then!
You should be fine with one of them.
So I'd still not risk putting it in the camera. With the separators gone, you might end up with an alignment issue and lose your pictures.
Not worth the risk IMO.
Also I have the D7100 which has two SD card slots. I always have the second set to duplicate the first, so both have a copy of my RAW files should anything go wrong with the first. Not sure if your D7000 does that, but it does give you peace of mind.

Jerwin, I wouldn't risk it. Just get a new card and be safe.

On that, I have to say I've been less and less impressed with Sandisk products lately. In the past year, I've had two bad card readers and a bad CF card, so I've recently switched all my cards and reader equipment to Lexar.
