Pic message compression with iPhone 4?

Ever since I got my iPhone 4, MMS pics are extremely compressed. Both pics I send or receive look like crap. Is this an issue with the phone or did AT&T start compressing them more over the air?

I know they need to be resized and compressed a little because sending a 5 megapixel pic is a little overkill, but this is ridiculous... is it just me? Is it worth calling AT&T's terrible customer service over?

So far I've sent to other AT&T members and sprint users too with the same effect.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the great screen and camera...

I mainly have tried sending video not pics. But I did notice that the video was amazing!! On my phone!! However even when you click on the video that was just sent you see the compression took a heavy toll. What was a great video looks very fuzzy.

I think I only sent one pic. That was clear. But how much do they compress the video.
