Does anyone know if I have to trade it in my phone the when I pick up my new phone or will they give me a couple of days to bring it back in? I picked in-store trade in thinking that would be faster and easier. Someone told me that they will give me 14 days to bring it back in. I was wondering if anyone had an issues with doing this? I wanted to bring the new phone home setup everything up and take the old phone back the following day.

In-store will almost certainly be faster. I still haven't my money for trading in on launch day for a 12 Pro. I got the confirmation a week ago and it can take another week or so for my payment to be processed

Most Apple stores in the US will not want to take back or touch your trade in.

When I went into the Apple Store 2 weeks ago, the Apple rep just handed me the new phone and said that if I needed transfer data from my old phone, or have questions to contact them via virtual online help which they sent me an email link to.

They will have an empty box sent to you and you will have to return it in their pre-paid box.

So just go in and pickup the phone and go on your merry way...

If that is the case, that is new because of COVID fear. I have always handed them my old phone, every year.

I selected in store pick up 8 am next Friday for my 12PM. I will prefer to get a trade in box since I plan to go to my office afterwards and set up new phone properly.

Since Apple store near me converted to Express Pick up, I had lots of questions so I asked them and this was one of them. If you are on iUP and needing to turn in your device to close out the loan, they actually can take your device, just as long as your phone is backed up and erased and ready to be traded in. Otherwise they will ship you a trade in box for you to ship the phone back.

Personally I don't think it should be a problem because they do have disinfecting wipes on standby. I've returned the 12 Pro yesterday and they simply used one of the dinfecting wipes to wipe down the box and the phone itself. However, YMMV.

In-store trade in? I purchased from Apple's site this morning and it said trade-in's were not a choice in-store. That I had to mail it to them in the provided kit.

If I get the kit before next Friday, I'll bring it to my in-store pickup and see if I can simply hand it to them with my 8 Plus inside versus mailing it myself.

On second thought from my other post, you might be right if that's what apple.com listed so I guess all trade ins are to be mailed.

Hi! It might depend on the store, but I’d assumed I’d have to mail in my old phone and so went to pick up my 12 Pro without it—and then the specialist who was helping me asked if I had a phone I’d like to trade in before he processed my payment. So he would have taken my old phone there and applied the value to my total for sure. I am not on IUP, FYI. Maybe that would make a difference, too. Good luck!
