Picked Up “New” 14’ MacBook Pro

I just picked up a “new” M1 14’ MacBook Pro directly from an Apple Store and I noticed that the battery already has 5 cycles. Is this normal or is this laptop actually used and returned?

2021 MBP Battery Cycles When New

I picked up my 2021 MBP 14-inch earlier today. I was looking around system information and noticed that my battery already has 7 cycles on it. For others that got a new machine, how many cycles do you have? (Apple Icon > About This Mac > System Report > Power > Cycle Count)

It's no different than when you buy a car. They never have zero miles.

I bought a new Audi S4 back in 2014, it had 5 km on it.

I mean if the QA is well done,they must have tested every aspect of the product to see if there is any deffect.testing the display,colors,HDR , keyboard, performance , BlaBlabla

I doubt they'll go as far as draining 5 cycles just to confirm it's good tho lol,but might be an answer

My 14" MBP had 8 battery cycles when i got it. It seemed pretty high.

Got mine today and it's on 2 cycles. I think it's normal to have a few. I read somewhere last year about it.

Yeah, I picked my car right off the truck, and when I got in, I think it had 6 or 7 miles when I test drove, and like 11 when I purchased it.

I read this before I picked up mine so it was the first thing I checked. Mine had 1 cycle on it. I don't know if yours is used or not, but why would they need to have 5 cycles on it? I'm not sure what to think. What did you decide?
