Hi all,

I'm a little nervous, I must admit. I love my MacBook Pro, it is AWESOME. But the SuperDrive seems very picky about what media it will and will not write to. I've tried Staples CD-RW discs as well as Sony CD-R discs, which I know are blank--none of which will write. As far as I know, the CD-R are 40x discs while the CD-RW speed is unknown.

Is this a common problem? The thing is I have a project due in less than a week requiring the use of my SuperDrive to create a DVD. I'm becoming concerned.

-John

PS. I have not yet tried to use the Superdrive in creating a DVD.

Slot-loading drives tend to be picky about CD/DVD brands for some reason.

If you find a brand with which your MBP is happy, buy that brand. The prices are close enough anyway. If they're not, maybe try an external tray-loading drive?

No harm in calling Apple. It should still be under phone support. Might as well give that a try.
