Has anyone else found that after updating to 17.0.1, 17.0.2 and then 17.0.3 that the local picture cache is flushed?

Each update has left me with grey squares and it has taken a while to download the images. I can see the iPhone storage for Photos increasing as they download.

Not the end of the world, just annoying!

Is your phone low on free storage? If so iOS will offload “whatever it has to” in order to have enough free space to download & install the update.

I have not personally noticed the issue you’re describing on my own iPhone, but I have several dozen free GB of storage.

15GB isn’t actually all that much. I’d expect the phone to be trimming data out at any point, not just during an update. My iPad, for example, has about 22GB free - and while I’ve not noticed that particular behavior, it does “offload” apps regularly and I have to re-download them if I want to run them.

Never had any apps offload or data trimmed and never had this issue with 16 and I recall getting as low as 5GB free.
