Picture Folder on my iPhone 4 isn't importing to iPhoto on iMac

I'm trying to transfer a folder with only 35 pictures to my iPhoto, but I don't see an option to do that. My iCloud is finally working ok but it won't transfer these pictures because maybe it thinks that they've already been transferred? I've tried everything... anyone know how to do this?
