I believe a 2 megapixel camera at full resolution will give you something like 1600 x 1200 @ 72 dpi. 1600 x 1200 = 1,920,000 pixels, or roughly 2 megapixels. Your computer will render that image at full size, giving you your huge head.
All you have to do is reduce the image down to a more reasonable size for the Internet. To reduce an image to roughly 3"x5" (or 216x360), enter 216 for the small side and the other side will fall in naturally around 360 pixels, or around 5".
