This is where I live near Helena, MT. We are off the grid - meaning no electric. However we have solar and wind power for lights, running water, tv, computers, et cetera.
Absolutely beautiful, my dream is to own a piece of property in Montana or Maine, I want a small little cabin with one room for myself. Hunt whenever I choose to, play airsoft and paintball on my own property, no ridiculous laws like new jersey, ahhh I can't wait.
Some of those pictures are land for sale. A cattle company BMG has 500, or so, acres for sale around our 31 acres going for 500,000.00. The rest of the land around us is forest service land. Things to remember about living in backwoods Montana: it's Subaru AWD and world class mountain biking; hunting great and the animals realize this and are stealth; winters can get 6' snowdrifts and the road is tricky.....
I sled down the hills, but I don't see why the snowboarding wouldn't be good. So, yes! Actually the winters can be, well, crappy - wind, cold, and cabin fever.
It's ranch land. Like cow crap? Well, the evidence of cows does go away with time.
I have a lot of these, and more, pictures which make for nice desktop pictures. 1600X1200
Dude, I would be happy with ten acres,10,000 dollars is nothing, so cheap, if I had more money I'd buy the whole state.
I've never been to Montana myself but it always looked like the kind of place I'd like to go. It just looks so free and open.
I spend a lot (or used to at least) of time up on the moors here. It's the only place you can go and really feel disconnected from the busy world below.

Verizon Wireless Internet at the top of the hill, in certain parts of my house, or I go into town. I get the jones for a good latte and head to town.
Those are some beautiful shots... It's funny how we tend to ignore the scenery we have around us where we've lived all our lives. Some of those photos looked similar to the area I live, and here I'm going "Ooooh, Montana's so pretty!" Ya know?

Well, I do harvest the sun (solar) and wind, but I still go to town for groceries. Other modern amenities I enjoy are Net Flix, eBay, computers, cell phones, et cetera.
I am sustainable in some ways, but am reliant on services in town.
