Pictures sync - "The required file cannot be found."

Starting today - I get the following error in iTunes 9 (on my Macbook) when I try to sync my pictures. I continue to get it even after removing all pictures and trying to resync the pictures.

"The iphone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."

Another weird thing is that the color bar at the bottom says I have 2.8 MB of video on my iphone even though I have none...

Any thoughts? I'm worried that I need to Restore my iphone - but then I will lose my jailbreak...

Having exactly the same error message when I attempt to remove / install apps.
Some of the apps do appear to install, but when I try and open them they crash back to desktop !?
