Pieces of Text Conversations Missing?

As I'm looking back through some of my past text conversations I realized that there's a lot of stuff missing in the middle. For example, one conversation that I know I had over text is basically just my friend talking to himself .. but I know I answered him via text.

Anyone have any idea on what happened?
