On my Studio 14.6.1 I had a problem with my Plex server http://127.0.0.1 not being found. When I pinged the local host it timed out:
Mac-Studio-M2-6566 ~ % ping localhost
PING localhost (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
--- localhost ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
Mac-Studio-M2-6566 ~ % ping 127.0.0.1
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
No problems with internet connectivity with remote sites.
I rebooted the system and the Plex URL 127.0.0.1 now works in Safari but the pings still fail.
Mac-Studio-M2-6566 ~ % ifconfig
lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384
options=1203<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,TXSTATUS,SW_TIMESTAMP>
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128
inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1
nd6 options=201<PERFORMNUD,DAD>
so seems normal. Summary:
1. I have internet connectivity.
2. can't ping local host
3. but Safari will find the local host
Any ideas on what is happening?
