Ping works but all other ports are blocked

Since yesterday morning I am facing a very strange issue with my MacBook Pro which prevents me from going online. Since then I researched a lot of possible solutions, tried many suggestions and at last, re-installed the system but to no avail.

I am running Mac OS 10.8.2 for a few weeks with no problems yet. The internet connection just stopped working when I started the computer in the morning. I did'nt install any new software and as far as I can tell,there were no system updates. I tried to go online different ways: through Wi-Fi, Ethernet cable, and an USB stick, everywhere the same symptoms. I can ping IPs and get a response, but DNS or any other service is not working (FTP, SSH, HTTP..). Itis driving me crazy...

in the network connections window try removing the adapter you're trying to use and then adding a it again just by clicking the add button. This solved a similar issue for me in the past.

Re-creating network connection

I tried to remove the network connection and added it again. I also tried to remove it and restart my mac. The only thing that changed is before there was an exclamation mark in the wi-fi symbol on the top bar which is gone now. But still no internet connection.
I should add that I can open an internet connection when I start my mac in the Recovery mode.

Perhaps 192.168.2.1 is not a valid or working dns server? Try using 8.8.8.8 for your dns server.

Also, are you certain your router is working properly? Perhaps it needs some attention and/or a reboot...
