I heard a rumor that Apple will be releasing a special edition Madonna iPod Nano that is going to be pink in color on Wednesday October 12, 2005 along with several other products.

Rumor is that it will contain her entire music collection pre-loaded.

Hmm... I'm not so sure. Any music on the iPod will be erased when you pair it up with your Mac and copy your own music across. Of course, the music could be on the nano as files which you could then copy onto your Mac...

Do you have a source (a link perhaps) for this rumour, amac4me?

If it's anything like Madonna, it will look great on TV but old and nasty in your hands.

Although Madonna and pink are not my things, perhaps this is Apple's way of addressing lack of color choices. Perhaps green and blue Nanos will be licensed to other musicians in the near future?

I think it was a mistake to get rid of the pink iPod mini, as they definitely excluded an entire demographic of iPod buyers here. However I don't think the same demographic that was into the pink minis is also into Madonna.

Pre-loading would be hard to do. There are all sorts of logistical and piracy issues here. More likely, they would do something like they did with U2, offer a coupon for discounted or free downloads from iTMS. This way, they also force people to sign up for an account if they didn't before-more likely to buy music with one-click in the future, etc, etc.

the U2 ipod has been around a lot longer than I ever expected, so it must be selling... I had a hunch this must have been part of the plan to get madonna exclusively on itunes.

I'll agree with Jay here. Most likely if something like this were to happen, they'll go the discounted/certificate route they did for the U2 pods.

Do you have any idea how popular a hot pink, Madonna-autographed iPod would be? Me and like every one of my friends would buy one. It'd be the gay icon of 2005-2006.

I doubt this is the reason for the "One More Thing" invitation though. Too much hoo har for just a coloured Nano.

It also features 2 new features:

The first feature will randomly change the name of your iPod.

The second feature is a one of a kind feature for any music playback device. It will take the vocals and apply a fake accent from another country to them.

Doubt this will happen, as there was already a Madonna iPod. One of the Signature line.

And Madonna's entire collection would take up about 1.8gb depending on encoding (not that I have it, of course, just guessing) so it wouldn't leave much room for anything else... Plus she makes a ton of money off those old CDs, so I doubt she'd just give everything away...

so, i'd say it's only slightly possible there will BE one, but if there IS, it won't be pink, and will only include her newest album.
