Both of these apps are absolutely horrid to use. Why?

Pizza hut is worse ye because even if you want to avoid the app they force you to their unacceptable mobile app. If you want to order a pizza you have to create an account; with a strong password to boot! Why can't I order a pizza without creating an account and password and agreeing to your crappy marketing? I won't be ordering pizza from your store.

Papa johns app is peculiar, and not in a nice way. Log in to the mobile site and it may or may not show you prices and promotions. Sometimes prices dot show until the end of the order. Again, unacceptable, I'm tired of navigating my way through it.

why not just call them and place an order, takes the same amount of time

you iPhone is capable of making outgoing calls, i know sometimes it is hard to remember it can with all the peripheral functions out there, :):)

do we really need to boycott an entire chain of restaurants because their iPhone isn't good?

but sometimes that is the only place still open late at night, and that is better than frozen

Pizza places by me are open until 10, maybe 11 on weekends. If they're closed, I'll go to the diner. :D

Some advertised deals are app only. The pizza is substandard, though papa johns is not bad. Most people prefer a non chain restaraunt and usually they suck too. So there ya go.

So true. And yes we need to boycott these "pizza stores". Pizza is not to be made in a chain:)

The title of the thread is correct. They are doing Pizza wrong.;)

+1 Best comment of the night.

If the OP lives in NY and buys pizza from a chain, then you deserve what you get. NY, and NYC in particular makes the best pizza. JMO.

Way to deflect from the real issue at hand, and that is poorly-made apps. If Za Hut or Papa Johns is going to offer an app, it should be usable. Some people like the convenience of ordering through the app, particularly when away from home or in the car.

What Papa John's app? Did a search to check it out and found none. Have seen the dedicated Pizza Hut app. Is the PJ app a dedicated one for PJ's only or a combo app for various brands?

Because if they didn't require you to exert some sort of effort to place an order, a bunch of dumb middle school kids would be spending the night ordering a bunch of pizzas and having them delivered to teachers they don't like.

Chain pizza. Wretch.

I agree, make sure to write reviews so maybe they'll realize how bad it is.

Here is the funny part about pizza hut:

1. you download the app.
2. you try to use, it asks you to login.
3. you can't make a new login, you have to exit the app.
4. you go to mobileSafari, except....can't make a login there either.
5. You are forced to go to your laptop.
6. by now, their store is closed by a few minutes cause it took so long to get all of it working.

Think that's nuts? It happened to me.

All things happen for a reason, my son. You were spared the chain pizza with their bland sauce and cardboard crust.

Papa's is a web app. I don't have internet at home so pizza hut was useless. Most local non-chains were closed due to snow. On the plus side, I'm just going to start making pizza at home from now on. The search for a good crust recipe begins :)

You don't have to create a new account each time you order. Of course you have to create an account though. And for most people who are using this app, they probably already have an online account to begin with.
