Plan on using iPhone 14 Pro for 2 more years, should I just get Lightning AirPods Pro?

It's not a huge deal if I need to use multiple cables but I might as well try to minimize if there is a chance. I got the iPhone 14 Pro at launch and plan on using it for two more years (will upgrade to iPhone 17 Pro). My 1st gen AirPods Pro are over 2 years old and I need to upgrade soon.

Should I future proof and get the USB-C AirPods Pro now? Or is it better to get the Lightning pair at a discount and have the convenience of having the same cable with my iPhone for 2 more years? The way I see it, I'm probably gonna upgrade the AirPods Pro in 2 years anyway so I might as well get all new USB-C accessories when I upgrade my iPhone.

Still on the fence with this one. What would you do?

If you aren’t worried about multiple cables, the. It comes down to how they are different. As I understand it, the usbc version has increased dust and sweat resistance and lossless audio with visionPro. If you aren’t going to get a VisionPro or the increases to dust and sweat resistance don’t matter to you and you can find them cheaper, then there is nothing that sounds like you ‘need’ to get the new version. But you can always do so just because. Or let price and availability guide your decision.

One thing to keep in mind is that AirPods - at least from my experience - don't last that many years. I have to replace mine after about 2 years because they no longer hold a charge.
